30A is an absolute gold mine (and I don’t just mean that because golden hour here is INSANEEE) from the sugar white sandy beaches with the most beautiful blue water to the stunning parks with beautiful greenery this area is the best spot when it comes to capturing those laid-back, authentic vibes in a stunning scenery that will make your engagement photos perfect. There are a few spots, like Alys Beach, that require you to either be staying there or have permission to take photos. But no worries—there are plenty of public beach accesses in and around these areas. Grayton Beach State Park, for example, is a stunning location with dreamy blue waters, perfect for capturing your love story.
If you’re more into nature vibes, definitely check out Eden Gardens State Park. It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot that offers a different kind of charm for your engagement session.
And for something a little more fun and unique, why not start or end your session at your favorite local bar, coffee shop, or carryout restaurant? I get this question before almost every session, and I totally understand why. Finding outfits that match but aren’t too matchy, feeling comfortable yet stylish, and maybe even considering a change of looks—it can feel like there are endless decisions to make! My biggest piece of advice? Wear what you feel good in! It’s a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new wardrobe piece you’ve had your eye on.

My answer is that it’s actually quite simple and there's lots of things you can do or bring in to help ease the process. Here’s three tips I have to encourage this, let’s talk about it.

MOVEMENT BASED PROMPTS ARE KEY FOR CANDID PHOTOS I always say, movement-based prompts are everything when it comes to creating those natural, authentic photos you see all over Pinterest! I love starting sessions with something like, “I want you to walk away from me, and while you’re doing this, I want you to hug into each other or pull away a bit. No matter what—don’t stop touching, even if it’s just a fingertip.” It’s all about staying connected, moving together, and easing into the session without jumping right into stiff poses or staring into the camera lens.
Movement allows you to relax, feel more comfortable, and interact with each other, making it easier to get those in-between moments that feel genuine. Whether it’s twirling around, running toward the water, or just swaying side by side, prompts like these turn into moments of laughter, closeness, and spontaneity. These actions create photos where it’s less about the “perfect pose” and more about the real you—dancing, joking, and just having fun.

Prefer a bright and sunny look with clear blue skies? Midday works perfectly for a sunny, vibrant feel. Or, if you want a more serene vibe, consider an early morning sunrise session—less crowds, stunning colors, and a calm, peaceful atmosphere all to yourselves.

30A Engagement Sessions
First up, we’ve got Caitlin and Royce – they had such a blast during their beach session (and so did I)! Next is Steph and Declan – this one was seriously so fun. We started at the Marina Bar, a local spot in SanDestin where they met and spent so much time when they lived here. We wrapped it up with a sunset session at Grayton Beach State Park. Just stunning vibes all around. I also captured video for their engagement session as another meaningful way to document their love story, and to feature in their wedding film next year!
And last, but definitely not least, we have Dan and Taylor – still obsessed with their photos and probably will be forever. Everything about this day was just chef’s kiss. From the perfect blue skies to their killer outfits (hellooo, those sunglasses?!), it all made for such a cool vibe. And, of course, we ended it at a local dive bar in Destin, because they LOVE dive bars (like I mentioned earlier) and it was so them.
